GUMATERE DANCE, The meaning behind the Gumatere dance is to ask for guidance in the event of a natural disaster or phenomenon which is in progress. This dance is performed by 30 male and female dancers. The male dancers use spears and swords while the women use scarves. What’s unique about this dance one of the dancers will carry a black cloth, flat basket and a candle for the ritual.
BOBASE, Bobaso was a traditional game played by young men and women in the past. In this game played by 8 dancers who recite stories with a love theme and also future hopes and dreams. Bobaso is mixed with a dance which is accompanied with slow and varied music. There are 6 musicians, who play traditional drums, gongs and violins which usually play together with the dancers. Bobaso, at first glance, greatly resembles the dengedenge dance.
LELEHE DANCE, The Lelehe may be danced by either children or adult. The dancers use 2 bamboo poles 2-3 metres long. The dance itself is performed by one man and woman. This is a traditional dance of the Tobelorese people, usually performed during weddings and other adat ceremonies.
